Weather & Tides-August 29, 2025

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT

Friday, August 29th, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Temperatures remain around seasonal norms into early next week. Dry conditions will persist with no precipitation expected. High pressure will build in next week to increase inland temperatures.

TODAY:

Inland: Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. Calm wind becoming south southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. North wind around 7 mph.

Extended Forecast: Low clouds and fog are lingering along the North Coast, especially around Humboldt Bay, with better clearing to the south; occasional drizzle is possible, but no real rain is expected. Smoke from interior wildfires may drift into far northeast Trinity County this weekend, reducing visibility and air quality at times. An offshore low will remain mostly out to sea as it passes into Oregon, but it is expected to loop back west early next week, leading to a warm-up inland. By midweek, many valleys are likely to see highs well over 100°F, though there’s still uncertainty—if a shortwave trough develops, it could pull in monsoonal moisture, bringing a chance of dry thunderstorms and capping the heat a bit.
