Jerry Martien Reads Poems of Protest
Jerry Martien has read poetry in Humboldt’s bars and public performance spaces since the 1970’s, but also at the gates of its nuclear plant, the blockade of the G-O Road, on the County Courthouse steps, and at public meetings. This performance, accompanied by music, will reprise poems responding to a wide range of threats to regional health, from herbicide spray to liquidation logging to the fascist coup in progress.
The show will begin at 7 p.m. The Arcata Playhouse is at 1251 Ninth Street, Arcata, 95521. For further information 822-1575. Tickets at the door or playhousearts.org.
