NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT

Wednesday, September 17th, 2025

SYNOPSIS: Hot and dry weather will persist through Wednesday with gusty nearshore winds. Cooler weather, scattered showers, and a slight chance for thunderstorms will return Thursday into the weekend.

TODAY:

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 93. North wind 9 to 11 mph.

Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

TONIGHT:

Inland: Increasing clouds, with a low around 54. North wind 6 to 13 mph.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. North northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Extended Forecast: Coastal clouds and fog (stratus) will return overnight but are expected to clear by late Wednesday morning as the recent warm, dry pattern continues briefly. However, a low-pressure system is on the way and will bring a change in the weather by the weekend.

Hot temperatures will persist inland through Wednesday, with some valleys hitting the upper 90s or even low 100s, creating moderate heat risk. Starting late Wednesday, moisture from a fading tropical system will move in from the south, bringing a small chance (around 10%) of showers or thunderstorms—mainly in Lake and Mendocino counties. Rain chances increase Friday into Saturday as more moisture arrives and a low-pressure system forms along the coast, but exact timing and locations for rain and storms are still uncertain.
