A sharp warmup will begin Monday and peak Tuesday and taper off through the end of the work week. Additional showers will be possible early to mid next week.

TODAY:

Inland:  A 20 percent chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Light southwest wind.

Along the Coast: A 20 percent chance of rain before 11pm. Patchy fog between 11pm and 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Light and variable wind.

Extended Forecast: An offshore weather system is pulling in moisture toward the coast, which is raising the chance of showers and a few thunderstorms along coastal areas, especially on Friday. Trinity County has the best chance for storms, though cloud cover may limit how strong they get. By Saturday, skies may clear enough to allow more heating, which could trigger additional thunderstorms inland. Early next week, a sharp warm-up is expected, with inland areas reaching the upper 90s to around 100 degrees, though another round of moisture could affect the region midweek.
