SYNOPSIS: A frontal passage will continue to generate rainshowers on Wednesday, and potentially Thursday, before giving way to dry weather on Friday and hold through the weekend.

TODAY: 

Inland: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph. 

Along the Coast: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 5pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 65. Light south wind becoming west southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: A 20 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Areas of fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: A slight chance of showers before 8pm, then a chance of showers after 11pm. Patchy dense fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Extended Forecast: Following yesterday’s cold front, cooler air and lingering moisture will keep light showers going through Wednesday night, with up to a quarter inch of additional rain in some inland areas. Rain chances decrease Thursday, though a few showers may pop up in the interior, especially around Trinity County. From Friday into early next week, high pressure is expected to bring dry, clear weather, with offshore winds developing along the coast. These conditions may lead to frost or freezing temperatures in colder inland valleys, depending on how much drying occurs.
