Climate, Community, and Change: A North Coast Town Hall with Chris Rogers

Mendocino County’s Grassroots Institute is preparing to host a critical community conversation with newly elected Assembly Member Chris Rogers, addressing the transformative challenges facing Northern California’s coastal regions. Scheduled for Sunday, April 27th from noon to 2 PM at the Casper Community Center, the town hall will explore complex issues ranging from climate change impacts to housing affordability and regional infrastructure development. Peter McNamee, a volunteer with the Grassroots Institute, emphasizes the event’s significance. “We’re facing unprecedented shifts, with potentially 50 million people moving from southern to northern regions seeking more temperate environments,” McNamee explained. The town hall will cover key topics including:
- Climate change migration patterns
- Housing infrastructure challenges
- Coastal zone preservation
- Agricultural and economic transitions
- Community adaptation strategies
Representing a district stretching from Santa Rosa to the Oregon border, Assembly Member Chris Rogers will provide insights into state-level perspectives and potential solutions. “We need everyone at the table,” McNamee stressed. “If you can fog a mirror, you’re welcome. We must talk with each other if we’re going to survive and prosper.” The event is co-hosted by the Grassroots Institute and the League of Women Voters, underscoring a commitment to non-partisan community engagement. Location: Casper Community Center, Highway One (10 miles south of Fort Bragg) Date: Sunday, April 27th Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM For more information, visit grassroots-institute.org.
