Coastal Planning & Land Use Meeting Thursday March 20th from 3 pm to 5 pm

With coastal areas in the news for massive coastal wild fire disasters in LA, the Paulos Verdas community sliding slowly into the pacific daily, and new NASA reports of sea level rise and coastal sinking causing flooding and damage to communities up and down the state, we all need to stay informed and engaged to promote the best solutions for our future here on the coast.  Coastal erosion threatening local homes and roads is happening here now and we need to take effective action to safe guard people and property.
On Thursday, March 20th, 2025, the GrassRoots Institute’s, Mendocino Vision Workgroup will hold its 12th in a series of zoom sessions intended to engage the public in coastal planning and land use programs, policies and procedures. The zoom session will begin at 3 pm and conclude by 5 pm.  

At the beginning of the session, we will ask public agencies and organizations to make short presentations informing the public about their current and planned initiatives pertinent to coastal land use, planning and management.  At the last zoom session in January, Cal State Parks agreed to make a presentation regarding their efforts to address state park issues.  Additionally, we have invited HERE, a local volunteer group, that is ramping up to educated the public about the Fort Bragg headlands toxic substance remediation effort.  And the Mendocino Vision Wkg will review its preliminary outline for an assessment of coastal planning areas in the 5th Supervisor Dist.  The agenda is still being developed and a number of additional agencies (state, county, city, etc) have been asked to make presentations updating the public on their activities re coastal planning and land use.
