Latest update from Caltrans District 1 on Hwy 36 near Grizzly Creek slide: Route 36 remains FULLY CLOSED east of Swimmer’s Delight in Humboldt County due to slide activity. Traffic is still not expected to resume for days. We’ll keep you in the loop here.

The Food For People Mobile Produce Pantry will be in Hoopa today at the Hoopa Shopping Center located at 12509 Hwy 96, between 12 noon and 2 pm

Food for People will be hosting food distributions around Humboldt County today. The Eureka Choice Pantry located at 307 W 14th Street will be open from 10 am until 3:45 pm today. The McKinleyville Pantry at 1615 Heartwood Drive will be open from 10 am until 3 pm. In Fortuna, the pantry at 2292 Newburg Road will be open from 10 am until noon today. Residents in the Petrolia area can visit the pantry at 167 Sherman Avenue from 11 am until 12 noon today. The Honeydew Pantry at the Honeydew Elementary School located at 1 Wilder Ridge will be open today from 3 to 4 pm. The Arcata Pantry at 501 9th Street is open today from 4 to 6 pm. And in Garberville, the pantry at 437 Maple Lane will be hosting a distribution from 2 to 4 pm. .

Today, Mendocino County residents, the Willits Food Bank offers food distribution from 1-430 pm at 344 Railroad Avenue in Willits. Call 459-3333 for details.  The Fort Bragg Food Bank will be hosting a food distribution from 10 am until 5:30 pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. For a hot meal, residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 111 E. Commercial St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. The Anderson Valley Food Distribution, at the Anderson Valley Grange 9800 Hwy 128 Boonville, from 2:30 to 5:30 PM.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be in Mad River Community Hospital at 3800 Janes Road in Arcata from 11 am until 4 pm, and at United India Health Services-Potawot Village at 1600 Weeot Way in Arcata  from 11 am until 4 pm. And as always, individuals can donate at the blood bank daily, Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment, visit nccbb.net 

You can help to keep our community trash-free by joining the Eel River Clean-up Project tomorrow, and now, every Thursday. Join ERCP tomorrow at 9:30am at the Garberville Vet’s Park, across from Dazey’s, to help keep Southern Humboldt roadsides trash free.

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year-round to avoid receiving a violation.

Today, Wednesday, April 23rd, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
