Community Safety & Awareness Report-August 1, 2025

KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. This public calendar allows our community members to better plan their days; providers can share and sync their organization’s google calendar. Moving forward, we will continue to add events and information that benefit our community.

Beginning on Monday, July 7th, The Humboldt County Department of Public Works will be repairing Bell Springs Road at Post Mile 2.20 & 4.96, north of Island Mountain Road. With an expected completion date in Mid-August. expect delays of up to 30 minutes between 7:30am and 4:30pm during this period. 

The North Coast Growers Association is hosting the Garberville Farmers’ Market from 11 until 3pm,  and the Eureka Friday Night Market from 5:30 until 8:30pm. 

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting a food distribution in Eureka from 10 until 3:45pm.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobiles will be at Walmart Super Center in Crescent City from 11 until 4pm and at Eureka Natural Foods in McKinleyville from 10 until 4pm.

In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Ukiah from noon until 4pm; Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm; Willits from 1 until 4:30; and in Point Arena from 2 until 5pm. 

(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.)  Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon.

Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.

This evening’s 7pm Talk Show will not air as KMUD is broadcasting live from Reggae on the River. 

Today, Friday,  August 1st,   Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time.
