KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. 

Today, Wednesday  August 12th,  Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time. 

The North Coast Growers Association is hosting the (Old Town Farmers’ Market from 10 until 1pm;)  Fortuna Farmers’ Market from 3 until 6pm; and, (Shelter Cover Farmers’ Market from 11 to 3pm. )

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in McKinleyville from 10 until 3pm; Eureka from 10 until 3:45; Arcata from 4 until 6pm; Fortuna from 10 until noon; and Garberville from 2 until 4pm. 

The Food for People Mobile Produce Pantry will be in Rio Dell at the Rio Dell Fire Department, 50 Center St., today from 10 until 12:30pm. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Battle of the Badges – Main Event, Northern California Community Blood Bank, 2524 Harrison Ave, Eureka from 8am until 7pm. The Battle of the Badges is for local First Responders as they engage in a friendly competition to see who can collect the most life saving blood. In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm; Ukiah from noon until 4pm; and Willits from 1 until 4:30pm.

(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.)  Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon. 

Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.

You can help to keep our community trash-free by joining the Eel River Clean-up Project tomorrow, and now, every Thursday. Join ERCP tomorrow at 9:30am at the Garberville Vet’s Park, across from Dazey’s, to help keep Southern Humboldt roadsides trash free.
