Community Safety & Awareness Report-August 15, 2025

KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. 

Today, Friday, August 15th,  Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time. 

The North Coast Growers Association is hosting the (Garberville Farmers’ Market from 11 until 3pm) and the Eureka Friday Night Market from 5:30 until 8:30pm. 

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in Eureka from 10 until 3:45pm. Tomorrow, Saturday, August 16th, the Leggett Food Pantry, 65100 Drive-Thru Tree Road, will be open from 10 until 12:30pm.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobiles will be at Safeway in Fortuna from 11 until 5pm (and Shop Smart in Redway from 10 until 3pm). To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net.

In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Ukiah from noon until 4pm; Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm; Willits from 1 until 4:30pm; Laytonville from 2 until 4pm; (Round Valley from 10 until 2pm); and Point Arena from 2 until 5pm. 

(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.)  Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon. 

Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.

The KMUD Board of Directors will meet next Wednesday, August 20th, at 5:30pm, via Zoom.
