Community Safety & Awareness Report-August 18, 2025

KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides addresses, phone numbers and up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. 

Today, Monday, August 18th,  Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time. 

The North Coast Growers Association is hosting the Miranda Farmers’ Market from 2 until 6pm. 

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in McKinleyville from 10 until 3:00pm (and Fortuna, from 10 until noon.) 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobiles will be at McKinleyville Shopping Center from 11 until 4pm, (Valley Pacific Petroleum, 1100 W 14th St, Eureka from 9 until 2pm,) and Eureka VA Clinic, 930 W Harris St,  from 1:30 until 4pm. In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions in Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm and the Albion PopUp, 3512 Albion Ridge Rd., from 4 until 5pm. 

(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.)  Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon. Every Monday, the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Bragg distributes bagged lunches from noon until 12:30.

Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.

The KMUD Board of Directors will meet next Wednesday, August 20th, at 5:30pm, via Zoom. Tomorrow, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church, 1055 Redway Drive in Redway. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. If you have donations of food or supplies to offer or need additional information call 707-223-1560
