Community Safety & Awareness Report – December 16, 2024

Mendocino County residents, the Fort Bragg Food Bank will be hosting a food distribution from 12 noon to 3pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. For a hot meal,  residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Additionally, Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. Tomorrow, the Anderson Valley Food Bank will be hosting a food distribution from 9am to 11:30am at the United Methodist Church located at 13850 Hwy 128 in Boonville. If you have questions, call 895-3887 for more info. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at the Ferndale Community Drive located at the cross of Main Street & Brown Street in Ferndale from 11am to 5pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net 

The KMUD Board of Directors will NOT be meeting in December. The next meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of January.

Tomorrow, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get out of the weather every Tuesday, that’s tomorrow, from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. If you have donations of food or warm coats to offer or need additional information call 707-223-1560

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year round to avoid receiving a violation. 

Today, Monday, December 16th IS a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
