Community Safety & Awareness Report – December 31, 2024

Today, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get out of the weather every Tuesday, that’s today, from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. If you have donations of food or warm coats to offer or need additional information call 707-223-1560 

Mendocino County residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread for a hot meal, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Additionally, the Anderson Valley Senior Center has hot meals available for dinner today at the Veterans Hall in Booneville. For details, call 895-3609.Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. 

The McKinleyville Pantry is open today at 1615 Heartwood Drive from 10 am to 3 pm. Food distribution will be occurring today and every Tuesday & Thursday at the Garberville Presbyterian Church located at 437 Maple Lane from 1030am  to 12 noon.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile is at the Eureka Mall located at 800 West Harris Street from 9 am to 3 pm, and at Rohner Park located at 9 Park Street in Fortuna from 9 am until 3 pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year round to avoid receiving a violation. 

Today, Tuesday, December 31st IS a permissive burn day in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties. However, today is a NO BURN DAY in Mendocino County.

  • Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte County residents can call the North Coast Air Quality Management District at 1 866 burn day or 1-866-287-6329.
