Community Safety & Awareness Report – December 5, 2024

The Mendocino Food and Nutrition Program will be hosting a drive-thru pop up for fresh, premade food distribution in Willits today at 1250 Blosser Lane from 10am to 11:30 am. Swing by for a delicious premade meal. 

Food distribution will be occurring today and every Tuesday & Thursday at the Garberville Presbyterian Church located at 437 Maple Lane from 1030am  to 12 noon.

Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 4pm to 6pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. The Mendocino Community Food Pantry will also be hosting a food distribution today, and every Thursday, from 2 to 4pm at 44831 Main Street next to the Mendocino Presbyterian Church. Residents can receive a hot meal at Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Additionally, the Anderson Valley Senior Center has hot meals available for dinner today at the Veterans Hall in Booneville. For details, call 895-3609. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank is open today from 8am to 2pm, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year round to avoid receiving a violation. 

Today, Thursday, December 5th IS A NO BURN DAY in Mendocino County. In Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties, today is a NO BURN DAY in Zone 1, however, it today IS a permissible burn day in Zones 2 & 3. You can find your zone listed on your North Coast Air Quality Management District burn permit.
