Community Safety & Awareness Report – January 14, 2025

Food for People is distributing food throughout Humboldt County today. The Eureka Choice Pantry is open today at 307 West 14th Street from 10 am until 3:45 pm. The McKinleyville Pantry is open today at 1615 Heartwood Drive from 10 am until 3 pm. The Garberville Pantry at 437 Maple Lane is open from 10:30 am until 12 noon. The Redway Mobile Produce Pantry will be at the First Baptist Church located at 1055 Redway Drive from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. 

Today, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get recharged every Tuesday, that’s today from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. If you have donations of food or warm coats to offer or need additional information call 707-223-1560 

Mendocino County residents,  the Point Arena Food Pantry is hosting a food distribution at 24000 S. Highway 1 at the VFW Hall from 830am  to 12 noon. Call 882-2137 for additional information.  For a hot meal, residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at the Rio Dell Community Resource Center located at 406 Wildwood Avenue from 10 am until 4pm, and at the McKinleyville Shopping Center located at 1503 City Center Road from 12 noon until 6 pm. And as always, individuals can donate at the blood bank daily, Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment, visit nccbb.net

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year round to avoid receiving a violation. 

Today, Tuesday, January 14th IS a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
