Community Safety & Awareness Report – January 30, 2025

Food for People will be hosting food distributions around Humboldt County today. The McKinleyville Pantry at 1615 Heartwood Drive will be open from 10 am until 3 pm. The Arcata Pantry at 501 9th Street is open today from 4 to 6 pm. In Fortuna, the pantry at 2292 Newburg Road will be open from 10 am until noon today. And in Garberville, the pantry at 437 Maple Lane will be hosting a distribution from 2 to 4 pm. 

Today, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get recharged every Tuesday, that’s today from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. If you have donations of food or warm coats to offer or need additional information call 707-223-1560 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at College of the Redwoods located at 7351 Tompkins Hill Road Eureka from 10 am until 4 pm, and at the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police station located at 12637 state route 96 from 10 am until 3 pm. And as always, individuals can donate at the blood bank daily, Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment, visit nccbb.net 

Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 12 noon to 3pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. 

The Mendocino Community Food Pantry will also be hosting a food distribution today, and every Thursday, from 2 to 4pm at 44831 Main Street next to the Mendocino Presbyterian Church. For a hot meal, residents can visit Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Additionally, the Anderson Valley Senior Center has hot meals available for dinner today at the Veterans Hall in Booneville. For details, call 895-3609. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program.

CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required yearround to avoid receiving a violation.

Today, Thursday, January 30th is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
