Community Safety & Awareness Report: July 28, 2025

KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, kmud.org, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. This public calendar allows our community members to better plan their days; providers can share and sync their organization’s google calendar. Moving forward, we will continue to add events and information that benefit our community.

Beginning on Monday, July 7th, The Humboldt County Department of Public Works will be repairing Bell Springs Road at Post Mile 2.20 & 4.96, north of Island Mountain Road. With an expected completion date in Mid-August. expect delays of up to 30 minutes between 7:30am and 4:30pm during this period. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact Resident Engineer Angi Sorensen at (707) 445-7448.

Today, the North Coast Growers Association is hosting the Miranda Farmers’ Market  from 2 until 6:00pm. 

In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in McKinleyville from 10 until 3:00pm and Fortuna from 10 until noon. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Wildberries in Arcata from noon until 6pm. 

In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting a food distribution in Fort Bragg from 10 until 3:45pm. The Albion Pop-Up is happening from 4 until 5pm. 

(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.)  Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon. Every Monday, the Trinity Lutheran Church, 620 E. Redwood Dr. in Fort Bragg distributes bagged lunches from noon until 12:30pm. 

Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.

The KMUD Board of Directors will be holding a special board meeting Tuesday, July 29th at 6pm. A Zoom link will be posted on the KMUD website by Monday, July 28th.
