KMUD’s new Community Resources and Calendar page is now live on the KMUD website, wordpress-1438018-5376424.cloudwaysapps.com, under the COMMUNITY dropdown menu. Our improved calendar provides up to date information for farmers markets, food distributions, public meals, blood drives and other community services. This public calendar allows our community members to better plan their days; providers can share and sync their organization’s google calendar. Moving forward, we will continue to add events and information that benefit our community.

-CalTrans reports Route 36 to Remain Closed until further notice in Humboldt County as Crews Work to Clear Landslide. Caltrans District 1 and its contractors are working to stabilize and clear a large landslide that fully closed State Route (SR) 36 east of Swimmer’s Delight near Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park on May 31. 

Beginning on Monday, July 7th, The Humboldt County Department of Public Works will be repairing Bell Springs Road at Post Mile 2.20 & 4.96, north of Island Mountain Road. With an expected completion date in Mid-August. expect delays of up to 30 minutes between 7:30am and 4:30pm during this period. In Humboldt, Food for People is hosting food distributions in McKinleyville from 10 until 3:00pm; in Willow Creek at the Willow Creek Community Resource Center, at 38882 CA-299, from 10 until noon; Myers Flat at the Myers Flat Fire Station from noon until 3pm; and in Garberville from 10:30 until noon. 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobiles will be at Safeway in Arcata from 11 until 4pm, and at the Safeway in Fortuna  from 10 until 3pm. 

In Mendocino, the Mendocino Food Network is hosting food distributions at the Ukiah Food Bank from 9 until noon; and, the Willits PopUp, at 1250 Blosser Lane, from 10 until 11:30m.

(No need to read the following lunch announcements at 3pm.)  Lunches are provided for seniors at the Willits Senior Center from 11:45 until 1:00pm, and the Redwood Coast Seniors Center in Fort Bragg from 11:30 until 1:15pm. Plowshares Peace and Justice Center in Ukiah provides a hot meal weekdays from 11:30 until noon. 

Meals are provided Monday through Friday at Willits Daily Bread from 4:30 to 5:30pm and at the Mendocino Coast Hospitality House in Fort Bragg at 3pm.

County of Humboldt offices will be closed on Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Public lobbies will be closed and essential services such as law enforcement and emergency operations will remain functional. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, July 7. 

Today, Thursday,  July 3rd,  Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte and Trinity and Counties have suspended all burns at this time.
