Highway 36 is FULLY CLOSED east of Swimmer’s Delight near the Devil’s Elbow picnic area (Post Marker 15-16) in Humboldt County due to a slide. Multiple trees and boulders fell during Thursday night’s storm. Currently, there is no estimated time of reopening.
Today, the Alderpoint Community Food Distribution will be happening from 1 to 2:30pm. The Eureka Choice Pantry, at 307 W. 14th Street, will be open from 10 until 2:45pm.
Mendocino County residents, the Willits Food Bank offers food distribution from 1-430 pm at 229 east San Francisco Street in Willits. Call 459-3333 for details. The Fort Bragg Food Bank will be hosting a food distribution from 12 noon to 3pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. For a hot meal, Fort Bragg residents can visit the First Baptist Church at noon today on the corner of Franklin & Pine in Fort Bragg. Call 964-3422 for more information.Additionally, Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Walmart in Crescent City, located at 900 E. Washington Blvd from 11 am to 4pm. There is a blood drive taking place at Ferndale High School, at 1231 Main Street, from 9 until 2pm, And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year-round to avoid receiving a violation.
Today, Friday, March 14th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
