According to CalTrans, State Route 254 will be closed From Lum St – Weott to 0.5 mi North of Marin Garden Club Grove. In addition, State Route 36 will be closed between 8 and 5pm today from 0.6 mi West of Devils Elbow Picnic Area to Devils Elbow Picnic Area with One-way traffic between noon and 1:00 p.m. *ONLY* for slide removal.
Food for People will be in McKinleyville at the McKinleyville Family Resource Center, at 1615 Heartwood Drive from 10 until 3pm. The Fortuna Pantry will be open from 10 to noon at 2292 Newburg Road.
Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 10 am to 4 pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg.
For a hot meal, residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 111 E. Commercial Street Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile is at Safeway located in Fortuna, at 701 S. Fortuna Blvd from 10 to 4pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net
Tomorrow, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get out of the weather every Tuesday, that’s tomorrow, from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. On Monday, March 31, from 7 to 8 PM on KMUD, the Institute for Sustainable Forestry presents a live call-in show with Yana Valachovic, County Director and Forest Advisor for UC Cooperative Extension in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. Yana will be talking with ISF’s Gray Shaw and Salmon Creek resident Harry Vaughn about Sudden Oak Death in Humboldt County. Tune in Monday, 7 to 8 PM for a live call-in interview about this persistent pest and what we can do about it.
CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year-round to avoid receiving a violation.
Today, Monday, March 31th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
