The Arcata office of the CHP, serving the greater Humboldt area, has recently upgraded their phone system and now has a new phone number for the public. When contacting CHP-Humboldt, you can dial 707-713-6300. The non-emergency dispatch line remains the same at 707-268-2000. As always, if you are experiencing an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
CHP is reminding those with e-scooters and e-bikes that in California, you must have a driver license or instructional permit to operate -scooter. Minors must wear a helmet while riding, no passengers are allowed, and e-scooters are not allowed to be operated on a sidewalk. E-scooters are not allowed to be operated in excess of 15 mph or on a road that has a speed limit of more than 25 mph unless ridden in a bike lane. Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 12 noon to 4 pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. The Willits Food Bank also offers food distribution today from 1-430 pm at 344 Railroad Ave in Willits. Call 459-3333 for details. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program.
Food for People will be hosting a food distribution at the Eureka Choice Pantry located at 307 W 14th Street from 10 am until 3:45 pm today.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Ray’s Food Place located at 2009 Main Street in Fortuna from 9 am until 3 pm, and at the McKinleyville Shopping Center located at 1505 City Center Road from 11 am until 5 pm. CAL FIRE has lifted the requirement for residents in the state responsibility area to obtain a CAL FIRE burn permit, however, an air quality air permit is required year-round to avoid receiving a violation.
Today, Friday, March 7th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
