The Garberville Farmers’ Market is open today and every Friday of the season, 11 am to 3 pm. Visit the Garberville Farmers’ Market today located at the Garberville Town Square to purchase the freshest Humboldt-County-Grown and GMO-free produce along with plants, meats and other wonderful products. 

Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 10 am to 4 pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. Mendocino Coast Hospitality House, 237 N. McPherson St. in Fort Bragg provides meals Mon-Fri at 3 P.M and showers and laundry from 10 until 2pm. Seniors are invited to Redwood Coast Seniors, 409 N. Harold St. in Fort Bragg for daily meals weekdays from  11:30-1:15pm. 

Action Network, 200 Main St in Point Arena is open every Friday from  2-5 PM.  Plowshares Peace and Justice Center, 1346 S. State St. in Ukiah, CA offers a mean from weekdays from 11:30 – Noon. Ukiah Community Food Bank, 888 North State Street in Ukiah, is open today from noon to 4pm. 

The Willits Food Bank also offers food distribution today from 1-430 pm at 344 Railroad Avenue in Willits. Call 459-3333 for details. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. 

Food for People will be hosting a food distribution at the Eureka Choice Pantry located at 307 W 14th Street from 10 am until 3:45 pm today.

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at Cal Poly Humboldt at 1 Harpst Street in Arcata  between 11 and 4pm and in Crescent City at Walmart, located at 900 E. Washington between 11 and 4pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net

Reminder, burn permits are required for ALL open burning. Burn hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Burn piles are limited to 4’ x 4’, unless otherwise stated by a fire agency. You can only burn vegetative matter. 

Today, Friday, May 2nd, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.

As of May 1st, , the CAL FIRE Humboldt – Del Norte Unit requires both Standard and Non-Standard Burn Permit holders in State Responsibility Areas, to also obtain a CAL FIRE Burn Permit. A North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District (NCUAQMD) burn permit is still required year-round and contains the permittee’s designated burn zone.
