Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 10:30 am to 4 pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. 

The Mendocino Food and Nutrition Program will be hosting a drive-thru pop up in Albion, at 3512 Albion Ridge Rd every Mondays from 4-5pm. Mendocino Coast Hospitality House, 237 N. McPherson St. in Fort Bragg provides meals Mon-Fri 3 P.M and showers & laundry Mon-Fri 10-2pm. Seniors can attend the Redwood Coast Seniors Center, 409 N. Harold St. in Fort Bragg for a daily meal from 11:30 to 1:15pm,. Trinity Lutheran Church, 620 E Redwood Ave in Fort Bragg, serves a bagged lunch every Monday 12-12:30 pm. 

For a hot meal, residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 111 E. Commercial Street in Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. 

Plowshares Peace and Justice Center, 1346 S. State St. in Ukiah provides a meal M-F 11:30 – Noon.

Food for People will be hosting food distributions around Humboldt County today. The McKinleyville Pantry at 1615 Heartwood Drive will be open from 10 am until 3 pm. In Fortuna, the pantry at 2292 Newburg Road will be open from 10 am until noon today. 

NCGA Miranda Farmers Market begins today from 2–6 PM (May 5–Oct 27) and Henderson Center Farmers Market in Eureka begins today from 10:00 – 1pm. Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6th marks the start of the Shelter Cove Farmers Market and the Fortuna Farmers Market which has been extended. 

Tomorrow, and every Tuesday between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get recharged every Tuesday, that’s tomorrow, from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. If you have donations of food or warm coats to offer, or need additional information call 707-223-1560 

The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile is at the Hydesville Community Church located at 3296 Hwy 36 from 12 noon to 5 pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net 

The Board of Supervisors meets on Tuesdays at 9 am in the Board of Supervisors Chamber at the Humboldt County Courthouse, located at 825 Fifth Street in Eureka, California. The Board generally does not meet on the fifth Tuesday of the month. A link to view the meeting will be posted on https://humboldt.legistar.com.

Reminder, burn permits are required for ALL open burning. Burn hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Burn piles are limited to 4’ x 4’, unless otherwise stated by a fire agency. You can only burn vegetative matter. 

Today, Monday, May 5th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.

As of May 1st, , the CAL FIRE Humboldt – Del Norte Unit requires both Standard and Non-Standard Burn Permit holders in State Responsibility Areas, to also obtain a CAL FIRE Burn Permit. A North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District (NCUAQMD) burn permit is still required year-round and contains the permittee’s designated burn zone.
