Today and every Tuesday of the season, the Shelter Cove Farmers’ Market, the Fortuna Farmers Market, and the Old Town Farmers’ Market are offering up the freshest Humboldt-County-Grown and GMO-free produce along with plants, meats and other wonderful products. The Shelter Cove Farmers’ Market is located at Gyppo Ale Mill and is open from 11 am to 3 pm. The Fortuna Farmers’ Market is open from 3 to 6 pm and is located on 10th Street between Main and L Street in downtown Fortuna. The Henderson Center’s Farmers’ Market is located in Old Town Eureka next to the Gazebo and is open from 10 am to 1pm.
Today, and every Tuesday between Noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get recharged every Tuesday, that’s today, from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. The Food For People Mobile Produce Pantry will be in Trinidad today at the Trinidad Library Park in downtown Trinidad at 380 Janis Court, between 10am and 12 Noon.
Food for People will be hosting food distributions around Humboldt County today. The Eureka Choice Pantry located at 307 W 14th Street will be open from 10 am until 3:45 pm today. The McKinleyville Pantry at 1615 Heartwood Drive will be open from 10 am until 3 pm. And in Garberville, the pantry at 437 Maple Lane will be hosting a distribution from 2 to 4 pm.
The Mendocino Food and Nutrition Program will be hosting a drive-thru pop up for fresh, premade food distribution in Leggett today at 65100 Drive Thru Tree Road from 12 noon to 1 pm. Swing by for a delicious premade meal.
Mendocino County residents can receive a hot meal at Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 111 E. Commercial St. in Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at the Arcata Safeway today, located at 600 F Street from 11 am until 4 pm, and at Safeway located at 475 M Street in Crescent City from 1 pm to 6 pm. Reminder, burn permits are required for ALL open burning. Burn hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Burn piles are limited to 4’ x 4’, unless otherwise stated by a fire agency. You can only burn vegetative matter.
Today, Tuesday, May 6th, is a permissive burn day in Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
As of May 1st, , the CAL FIRE Humboldt – Del Norte Unit requires both Standard and Non-Standard Burn Permit holders in State Responsibility Areas, to also obtain a CAL FIRE Burn Permit. A North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District (NCUAQMD) burn permit is still required year-round and contains the permittee’s designated burn zone.
