Community Safety & Awareness Report – November 11, 2024
Today marks the nationally observed holiday of Veterans Day. Some non-emergency county offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Mendocino County residents can receive food assistance today at the Fort Bragg Food Bank from 12 noon to 3 pm today at 910 north Franklin Street in Fort Bragg. For a hot meal, residents can visit the Willits Daily Bread, Monday thru Thursday for Dinner, from 5:30-6:30pm located at 58 Bush St. Willits. For info, call 459-3947. Seniors in Willits can participate in the Willits Seniors Home Meal Delivery program, Monday through Friday. Contact 459-6826 if you’d like information on this program. Tomorrow, the Point Arena Food Pantry is hosting a food distribution at 24000 S. Highway 1 at the VFW Hall from 8:30 am to 12 noon. Call 882-2137 for additional information.
The Northern California Community Blood Bank’s blood mobile will be at the Adorni Center located at 1011 Waterfront Drive in Eureka from 11am to 5 pm. And as always, the blood bank is open Monday thru Friday, located at 2524 Harrison Avenue in Eureka. To schedule an appointment to donate, visit nccbb.net
Tomorrow, and every Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm, you can recharge at the Redway Baptist Church. For those living without a home, Bridging the Gap Ministries will welcome you for a hot meal, electronics recharging, warm clothing, and, as needed, there’s limited outdoor living supplies available. Get recharged every Tuesday, that’s tomorrow, from noon to 3pm at the Redway Baptist Church at 1055 Redway Drive. CAL FIRE has lifted the burn suspension, but fire season designation is still in effect. Residents in state responsibility areas must also obtain a Cal Fire burn permit. Year round, you still must have an air quality burn permit to avoid receiving a violation. Provided you have a valid air quality burn permit, Monday, November 11th IS a permissive burn day in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.
However, please note that today, Monday, November 11th IS NOT a permissive burn day in Mendocino County.
