QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION

Qualified Charitable Distribution

Are you looking for a way to make a real impact in your community and support your favorite educational radio station? Well, here’s a secret you might not know: You can donate directly from your retirement account, and it’s easier than you think! Plus, it could even lower your taxes—how cool is that?

How to make a donation from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD.

First, here’s the deal:

Step 1: Make Sure You’re 70½ or Older.
If you’re 70½ years old or older, you’re eligible to make a QCD. It’s that simple!

Step 2: Contact Your IRA Custodian.
Call the institution that holds your IRA—like your bank or financial advisor—and let them know you want to donate directly to a nonprofit. They’ll help you transfer the funds to us.

Step 3: Choose the Amount You Want to Donate.
You can donate up to $100,000 a year from your IRA. Just tell your custodian how much you'd like to give!

Step 4: Specify the Charity.
When you reach out to your IRA custodian, be sure to give them our name and our Tax ID number 94-2789780. They’ll make sure the donation goes directly to us.

Step 5: The Funds Go Directly to Us!
Your donation is sent straight from your IRA to our nonprofit, meaning no taxes on the donated amount. And, if you’re required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, this QCD counts toward it—helping you lower your taxable income for the year!
