Fugitive Joseph Larue Eludes Capture in Humboldt County, Girlfriend Arrested

Joseph Larue, a wanted fugitive, continues to evade law enforcement in Humboldt County, while his girlfriend faces multiple charges included an accessory charge for allegedly harboring him.
Initially wanted in Oregon for felony animal abuse, Larue’s criminal activities have expanded to include an alleged domestic violence incident in Redway on October 15. During this altercation, Larue reportedly sustained a gunshot wound but managed to flee the scene, sparking concerns about his survival. Recent sightings in Eureka have confirmed that Larue is still alive and actively avoiding capture.
On October 26, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a tip about a vehicle associated with Larue at a Safeway on Harris Street in Eureka. However, Larue once again escaped before authorities could apprehend him.
While Larue remains at large, his girlfriend, Katina Baker, was arrested at the scene. She faces charges of child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. HCSO deputies ensured Baker’s infant child was safely placed with family members before taking her into custody.
HCSO Public Information Officer Meg Ruiz stated that Larue was last seen near the 2500 block of Harris Street in Eureka. However, given his known associates throughout the county, authorities warn that he could be anywhere.
The public is urged to remain vigilant as Larue’s capture remains a top priority for law enforcement. Anyone with information on Larue’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 707-445-7251.
