Housing not Handcuffs

Eureka City Hall will bring to vote on May 20th a bill that will allow officers to fine $1,000 dollars and jail time for up to one year for sitting, lying down or camping. For seeking shelter and respite, or what the bills writers’ call being a “public nuisance”
Our houseless community should not be punished for systemic failures. The most vulnerable of our community need housing, not handcuffs.
We invite you to join us at Halverson Park at 4pm on May 20th as we walk together as a community to City Hall for the Council meeting at 6.
