McKinleyville Man Facing Attempted Murder Charge in Eureka Shooting, Also Suspect in Redway Home Invasion

A McKinleyville man already in custody for a violent home invasion robbery in Redway has now been charged with attempted murder in connection to a December shooting in Eureka.
On December 7, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home invasion robbery on Redwood Drive near Redway. The victim reported that multiple masked men broke into their home, ransacked the residence, and stole cash, a cell phone, a valuable knife collection, a flat-screen TV, and the victim’s Nissan Frontier. The stolen vehicle was recovered days later in Arcata, and investigators identified three suspects: Dauwin Poe (19, of McKinleyville), Cotc Lincoln (38, of Hoopa), and Joseph Lenhart (25, of McKinleyville). All three were already in custody on unrelated felony charges, including gun violence and conspiracy, when they were charged in connection with the robbery.
Now, Poe is also accused of being the gunman in a December 28 shooting in Eureka. That night, shots were fired near 3rd and A Streets, with two people targeted but unharmed. Stray bullets struck an occupied tent, but no one was injured. Investigators linked this incident to two other shootings in McKinleyville and Hoopa before identifying Poe as the shooter.
On February 6, while already in custody at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, Poe was booked on additional charges, including attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and shooting into an occupied structure.
Both cases remain under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement.
