Mendocino Search and Rescue Deployed Weeks After Man’s Disappearance

Three weeks after 84-year-old David Taylor of Whale Gulch went missing, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has deployed its Search and Rescue team to assist in the search near the Humboldt-Mendocino county line, south of Shelter Cove.

Taylor, who lives alone in the remote community, was not reported missing until late last week when neighbors realized he was gone. Volunteers, including the Southern Humboldt Technical Rescue Team, have been leading grassroots search efforts, but so far, no significant leads have emerged. Authorities urge residents to be on the lookout for Taylor or his vehicle, a silver or tan 1990s Nissan Pathfinder, and report any information to law enforcement.
