NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE REPORT
Friday, August 22nd, 2025
SYNOPSIS: Hot and very dry weather will begin to peak today with
a strengthening, shallow marine layer near shore. There is slight
potential for thunderstorms over the interior late this weekend into
early next week.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Light and variable wind.
Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind
TONIGHT:
Inland: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Along the Coast: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Light and variable wind.
Extended Forecast: A high pressure system will bring very hot temperatures today, with inland valleys reaching 104-108°F, creating moderate to major heat risk especially around the Trinity River Valley and Clear Lake area. The heat will continue through Tuesday with warm overnight temperatures in the mid-60s, though it will cool slightly on Sunday while humidity increases. Coastal areas will stay cooler due to marine layer clouds and onshore winds that prevent the heat from reaching the coast. By early next week, the high pressure will weaken and allow some moisture to move in, creating a small chance of mostly dry thunderstorms over mountainous areas, with better chances for actual rain showers later in the week.
