SYNOPSIS:  Monsoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over the

higher terrain across the eastern interior again this afternoon

and into early evening, with a shallow marine layer along the

coast. Isolated thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday afternoon

over the Trinity Horn. Generally cooler and calmer conditions

will build for the end of the week with some more sun likely near

shore.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 94. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. South wind 7 to 9 mph.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 55. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Along the Coast: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Calm wind becoming south southeast 5 to 9 mph after midnight.

Extended Forecast: Thick fog and low clouds are covering the coast and river valleys, with some light rain in northern coastal areas, but these clouds should lift and move back toward the ocean during the day. Inland areas will stay hot with temperatures between 95-105°F, while thunderstorms are expected in the eastern mountains this afternoon that could bring heavy rain and strong winds. By Wednesday, the weather pattern will start shifting east, cooling temperatures into the 80s and 90s, with only a small chance of storms in northeastern areas. The rest of the week looks mostly dry, though there’s a possibility that unusual weather patterns could bring back stormy conditions early next week.
