New CalFire MEU Battalion Chief shares plans for 2025

Shane Lamkin joins CAL FIRE’s Mendocino Unit as the new Battalion Chief and EMS Coordinator. After more than two decades in fire service, Lamkin will oversee CAL FIRE’s local social media and email alerts, informing the public about incidents and vegetation management projects. Coming from the Shasta-Trinity Unit, where he served as a fire captain and managed a hand crew, Lamkin says he’s eager to apply his experience to improve fire prevention and response in Mendocino County.
