Shelter Cove Crash Landing Results in Temporary Airstrip Closure

The Shelter Cove Airport has officially reopened after being temporarily closed earlier this afternoon following a crash landing.

According to Shelter Cove Fire spokesperson Cheryl Antony, the incident occurred around 12:00 PM, and no injuries were reported. However, the aircraft involved leaked approximately 30 gallons of fuel, leading to safety concerns and an immediate airport closure.

Emergency crews responded promptly to contain the fuel spill and ensure the runway was safe for use. After completing cleanup efforts, officials cleared the airstrip for reopening at 3:15 PM.
