Three Juveniles Arrested for Burglary and Vandalism of Rohner Park

Three juveniles were arrested in connection with vandalism and theft at Rohner Park in Fortuna, according to an announcement by the Fortuna Police Department. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the suspects, leading to their arrest on October 25 following a thorough investigation by the Fortuna Police Department.
Police Chief Casey Day told KMUD News that the incident involved forced entry, structural damage, graffiti, and stolen property. Chief Day revealed that repair costs are expected to exceed $28,000, with an additional $500 worth of items stolen from the park.
Chief Day encouraged parents to guide their children in respecting community assets. “It’s vital that we have an ongoing open dialog with our children about the value of our community resources and how to prevent incidents like this,” he said. The police chief also highlighted the role of mentors, coaches, and school resource officers in teaching children about community responsibility. He noted the presence of a school resource officer, funded by the county, who spends time talking to children about community values. “We’re grateful for the community’s support in holding those responsible accountable,” Chief Day added.
The community is urged to report any further information related to this or other criminal activities to the Fortuna Police Department by call 707-725-7550. Tips can be made anonymously.
