SYNOPSIS: High pressure is keeping the weather calm with light winds and mostly clear skies. Inland areas started the day very cold, with temperatures dropping below freezing in some valleys, but the afternoon will bring milder temperatures in the 50s to low 60s.

Inland: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Southeast wind around 6 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41. Calm wind becoming south southeast 5 to 9 mph in the evening.
Extended Forecast: Clouds will increase tonight ahead of a weather system arriving Wednesday afternoon, bringing light to moderate rain into the evening. Rainfall totals will range from about 0.25 inches inland to up to 1.5 inches in mountainous areas. Snow levels in Trinity County could drop to 3,000 feet, bringing 2-4 inches of snow to highway passes. After a brief dry period Thursday afternoon, a stronger storm will arrive Friday afternoon into Saturday, with heavier rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow. Rainfall could cause minor flooding in low-lying areas and along the coast due to high tides. Winds may gust over 45 mph in coastal and higher elevation areas, while snow levels might linger near 3,000 feet, potentially impacting major highways. Sunday could bring a break in the rain, but another system may arrive by Monday.
