SYNOPSIS: Mild weather continues today with patchy fog in inland valleys and highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Coastal areas and parts of Trinity County may stay a bit cooler if the fog doesn’t clear.

TODAY: 

Inland: Patchy fog before 1pm. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 63. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog before 1pm. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Light and variable wind.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog between 7pm and 10pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Light southeast wind.

Extended Forecast: A series of stronger storms is on the way, starting with light rain in Del Norte County tonight. The first major system will arrive Friday night into Saturday, bringing heavy rain and strong southerly winds, with gusts of 30-40 mph along the coast and in higher elevations. Rainfall totals will range from 0.5 to 1 inch, with isolated heavier downpours possible. Additional storms are expected Sunday and early next week, with increasing rain totals and stronger winds. Rivers like the Mad, Eel, and Russian may rise to monitoring stages by midweek due to successive storms.
