ADVISORY: High surf advisory in effect for the coastal areas from now until 2 pm today.
SYNOPSIS: Rain showers will gradually clear up this afternoon, leaving behind drier conditions. Tonight, expect much colder temperatures, especially in interior valleys, where freezing conditions are likely. If skies clear quickly, fog may form in some low-lying areas overnight.
TODAY:
Inland: A 50 percent chance of rain before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50. North northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Along the Coast: Rain likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Patchy fog. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 33. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: Patchy frost after 10pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 34. Calm wind.
Extended Forecast: Saturday will be calm and dry, but another weather system will arrive in the evening, bringing rain and gusty winds along the coast. Snow levels will rise to about 4,500 feet. Light to moderate rainfall is expected from Saturday night through Monday, with the heaviest rain in northern Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Mendocino and Lake counties will see much lighter rainfall. Another weaker system may bring light rain by midweek, mostly affecting the North Coast.
