SYNOPSIS: Expect scattered showers throughout the day, gradually tapering off by late afternoon or early evening. Temperatures will be a bit cooler than yesterday, with highs ranging from the upper 40s to mid-50s.
TODAY:
Inland: A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1pm. Patchy fog before 1pm, then patchy fog after 4pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Light and variable wind. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Along the Coast: Rain likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. West southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: A 10 percent chance of rain before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph.
Extended Forecast: Tuesday will start off drier and calmer, with some areas of morning fog in the valleys. Temperatures will be a bit warmer during the day, but another storm system will bring light rain showers along the North Coast by the evening. Winds will pick up Tuesday night, with gusts up to 40 mph in exposed coastal areas. By late Tuesday night into Wednesday, moderate to heavy rain is expected in Del Norte and northern Humboldt, with snow levels dropping from 5,000 to 4,000 feet. Showers will gradually fade Wednesday evening as high pressure moves in, bringing a stretch of dry and warm weather starting Thursday and lasting into next week.
