ADVISORY: A wind advisory for the inland areas will be in effect on Wednesday, February 19th from 2pm until 9am.

SYNOPSIS: Today will be dry with increasing clouds and light winds. Afternoon temperatures will be about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday, reaching highs between the mid 50s and mid 60s. It will be a brief break in the weather before a change tonight.

TODAY: 

Inland: Areas of fog before 1pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Light and variable wind.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Rain, mainly after 4am. Low around 46. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Along the Coast: Rain, mainly after 1am. Low around 45. Windy, with a light south southeast wind increasing to 18 to 23 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Extended Forecast: A strong front will move in tonight, bringing gusty winds of 40 to 50 mph to coastal headlands and ridges in Del Norte and Humboldt counties, with a Wind Advisory in effect until Wednesday morning. Rain will start late tonight, with moderate to heavy showers expected through the morning, especially along the higher slopes. Total rainfall will range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches along the North Coast, with heavier amounts in Del Norte and northern Humboldt counties. Wednesday will bring colder temperatures, with snow levels dropping to 4000 feet by evening, possibly affecting areas like Scott Mountain Pass. Showers will continue into Wednesday afternoon before tapering off in the evening. The weather will dry out and warm up towards the end of the workweek, with another chance of rain returning by the weekend.
