SYNOPSIS: Expect dry and warmer conditions today, with most of the fog and low clouds clearing out by late morning. However, fog may linger in parts of Trinity and NE Humboldt until the afternoon. It’s a great day for outdoor activities once the skies clear.
TODAY:
Inland: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. North wind around 8 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. North northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 39. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Along the Coast: Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Light and variable wind.
Extended Forecast: The weather will stay dry and mild on Friday, although areas in the valleys could see more fog. This weekend, expect rain to return as a frontal system brings moisture from the subtropics. Saturday will see the heaviest rain in Del Norte County, with potential for minor flooding and landslides, especially along the 199. Winds will pick up with gusts around 40 mph, particularly on the coast. Monday may bring stronger winds, possibly reaching up to 60 mph in the mountains, so keep an eye on the forecast for any advisories. By mid-week, high pressure should return, but there’s a chance for more unsettled weather later next week with storms developing offshore.
