SYNOPSIS: The weather today will remain dry and warmer, with mostly clear skies and a few high clouds passing through. There’s no rain expected today, though a few light showers or sprinkles could occur overnight.
TODAY:
Inland: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: Partly sunny, with a high near 57. West wind 3 to 5 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: A slight chance of showers between 10pm and 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Extended Forecast: Rain is expected to return this weekend, with a strong storm system approaching from the west. This system will bring moderate to heavy rainfall to areas in Del Norte County and far northern Humboldt, especially Saturday night into Sunday. The rain could cause minor flooding and mudslides, particularly along steep terrain like Highway 199. Gusty winds will also pick up, with strong gusts up to 50 mph in some coastal and mountainous areas, making driving difficult. By early next week, the rain will taper off, and temperatures are expected to remain mild and above normal.
