Winds from the southeast will pick up in some areas, especially in Trinity and Lake counties, where gusts may exceed 20 mph this afternoon. A few clouds will drift through the sky, but overall, it will be a nice day.

Extended Forecast: The warm temperatures will stick around through Friday, but big changes are coming this weekend. A cold front will move in on Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures and light rain. Rainfall amounts will be modest, but there’s a 40–60% chance of some areas getting over an inch. Winds will also pick up on Sunday, with gusts over 30 mph in some higher elevations and even stronger winds possible in Lake County. Snow levels will drop to around 4,000 feet, meaning Scott Mountain Pass could see some snowfall. There’s also a small chance of thunderstorms near Cape Mendocino and in Trinity County. Next week looks to stay active, with more rain expected, though it’s unclear exactly where the heaviest precipitation will fall.
