SYNOPSIS: Today will be unusually warm, with highs reaching into the mid-70s to low 80s in many inland areas, making it the warmest day of the winter season so far. Coastal areas will stay cooler, with temperatures in the upper 50s to mid-60s. There will be some dense fog early this morning around Humboldt Bay, but it should clear up by mid-morning.
TODAY:
Inland: Sunny, with a high near 77. Light northwest wind.
Along the Coast: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Northwest wind around 6 mph.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Areas of fog after 10pm. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 43. Calm wind.
Along the Coast: Patchy dense fog before 1am, then patchy dense fog after 4am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 42. Light north northwest wind.
Extended Forecast: The warm weather will continue through Friday as high pressure keeps things settled, but cooler and unsettled conditions will return on Saturday. Coastal fog and low clouds are expected to develop again, and temperatures will cool down, although it will still be pleasant with above-normal highs inland. Sunday will bring a cold front with light rain and the potential for breezy winds, especially in higher elevations, where gusts could reach up to 40 mph. Mountain snow is possible, starting at around 6,000 feet on Saturday, and dropping to 4,000 feet on Sunday. Looking ahead to next week, expect more chances for light rainfall and continued cool weather.
