Weather & Tide Report – February 6, 2025
SYNOPSIS: After a long stretch of rain and snow, Northwest California is getting a short break, with only a few lingering showers. However, more rain is on the way, expected to reach the coast by noon and intensify through the afternoon and evening. Snow levels are currently low, and heavy snowfall is expected above 2,000 feet, especially in Trinity, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties.

Extended Forecast: Rain will continue overnight, with lower elevations expecting 0.5 to 1 inch and higher elevations receiving up to 2 inches. While flooding risks remain moderate due to saturated ground, major concerns are limited to small streams and potential mudslides. Snow will impact mountain highways, with 5 to 10 inches likely in Trinity County and lighter snowfall in Humboldt and Del Norte. Winds could gust up to 35 mph early Friday morning as a system moves through. By the weekend, showers will taper off, bringing a stretch of dry but very cold weather. Overnight temperatures will be unusually low, with coastal areas dipping below freezing and interior regions dropping into the teens. More moisture is expected mid-next week, but significant rain isn’t likely until at least February 17.
