SYNOPSIS: A weakening cold front will bring light rain and drizzle to parts of Del Norte and northern Humboldt later this morning and into the afternoon. Rainfall amounts will be minimal, ranging from a light mist to about 0.10 inches in Del Norte County. High temperatures will be cooler than yesterday, ranging from 55 to 65 degrees, with some fog expected to develop in interior valleys tonight.
TODAY:
Inland: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. North wind 5 to 8 mph.
Along the Coast: A 20 percent chance of rain before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Light north wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
TONIGHT:
Inland: Mostly clear, with a low around 37. North wind 5 to 8 mph.
Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 40. North wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Extended Forecast: This weekend, breezy northerly winds will pick up along the coast, especially around Cape Mendocino and higher coastal headlands, where gusts could reach 50 mph or more. Inland areas will also see gusty E-NE winds in higher terrain, particularly in southern and eastern Lake County. Nights will be cold, with clear skies and light winds leading to freezing or near-freezing temperatures across lower elevations and even coastal areas. Frost is likely through early next week. The dry, stable weather pattern is expected to continue into next week, with no significant rain on the horizon, although light sprinkles may be possible later in the week.
