SYNOPSIS: It will stay dry with mostly clear skies today, but expect chilly conditions. In coastal areas, morning fog and frost may linger before clearing up later in the day. Winds will remain light overall, except for some stronger gusts near Cape Mendocino.

TODAY: 

Inland: Areas of fog before 1pm. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 57. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Areas of fog after 7pm. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 34. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. Light southeast wind.

Extended Forecast: The region will remain dry through next Thursday with cold nights and frosty mornings, especially in inland valleys where temperatures could dip below freezing. Coastal areas may also see frost, but this depends on wind and cloud cover. Fog is likely along the coast and in valleys through mid-week, clearing by afternoon most days. Starting late next week, there’s a growing chance of light rain, especially in northern Humboldt and Del Norte counties, with a 30–50% chance of measurable precipitation by Friday night into the weekend. Stay alert for possible gusty winds in higher elevations, particularly in Del Norte County and the King Range.
