SYNOPSIS: It’s a clear, cold, and dry day across the region. Gusty winds on higher ridges are expected to calm down by tonight, and temperatures in some areas may feel close to freezing this morning. A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 60. Light north northwest wind.

Along the Coast: Widespread frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 55. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Clear, with a low around 31. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Widespread frost, mainly after 4am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 33. Light south southeast wind.

Extended Forecast: Expect cold and dry conditions to continue through midweek, with overnight temperatures gradually getting warmer. Fog and low clouds may develop starting Tuesday night, becoming more likely Wednesday night into Thursday. By Friday, a storm system is expected to bring rain, with the heaviest rainfall likely in Del Norte County and lighter amounts in areas like Lake County. Winds may pick up by late Thursday and Friday, especially on ridges and coastal areas. Over the weekend, rain is expected to intensify, with some mountain snow possible. While flooding isn’t a big concern yet due to dry conditions, streams and rivers could rise if heavier rain persists. Stay tuned for updates as the forecast evolves.
