SYNOPSIS: This morning is chilly, with temperatures ranging from the upper 20s to low 30s in inland areas, while coastal spots vary from the 30s to low 50s. Expect some morning fog in valleys and along the coast, but it should clear up quickly. Highs today will stay cool, and tonight will be cold again, with frost likely in some spots.

TODAY: 

Inland: Sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Widespread frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming west northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

TONIGHT:  

Inland: Patchy fog. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 33. Calm wind.

Along the Coast: Patchy fog. Patchy frost between 10pm and 1am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 34. Calm wind.

Extended Forecast: Dry weather will continue through midweek, with chilly nights and some frost, especially inland. A significant weather change begins late Thursday as a storm system approaches, bringing rain and mountain snow into the weekend. Expect the heaviest rain in northern areas like Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, while southern areas may see lighter amounts. Gusty winds, especially along coastal headlands and higher elevations, could reach 40-50 mph on Friday. Rainfall will likely increase over the weekend, which will benefit the environment but may cause minor flooding if it persists. Next week looks active too, with more rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds.
